Growing up Italian, I recall my Nanny (grandma) in the kitchen from the moment the first glimpse of sunshine peaked into the kitchen window. The smells of the sautéed garlic, meatballs and sausage frying, brings back great memories of learning to cook with my Nanny in her kitchen. A kitchen where no recipe was ever written down and nothing was ever typically measured. It was always measure to taste, and always taste delicious.
This Sunday tradition is the one thing in our lives that has always remained consistent. It is our day to reminisce of the family members no longer with us, and catch up on each others lives, which can sometimes get very loud, have you ever watched The Sopranos?
Despite it all we enjoy the time we spend together, cooking, eating and making new memories.

Yes that is a lid to a pot! Sometimes we just grab whatever we can,
because burning the meatballs is not an option.
Home made Sangria, a fan favorite in our house, and its always stocked in our fridge.
Garlic bread covered with mozzarella, and parmesan cheese.
We enjoyed this fresh made pasta even more than usual because it was the last pasta we will make on our machine! RIP Ronco Pasta Maker…
Yummy! Roughly about 7 hours later and the fresh made pasta, gravy, with meatballs, and both hot and mild sausage were complete for us to enjoy.
Sorry we became so busy enjoying each others company and indulging in the two things I gave up for lent, (meat and bread) I forgot pictures of the finished meal!
Do you have a traditional meal you enjoy with your family?
