In the weeks leading up to Christmas, it’s become our tradition as a family to visit the Westchester Mall, ordinarily my weekly visits happen while the kids are tucked away in school. Despite our hectic schedule filled with events, appointments etc, one thing is for sure our adventure to the Westchester Mall to visit the only Santa my children have ever known, for an overpriced photo is a must.
That is until this year! Our tradition has sadly come to a screeching halt as Simon Malls has managed to invite Jack Frost in to freeze all of the Holiday Magic for my family as well as many others.
If you are unaware let me do the honor of filling you in, do not expect the typical Christmas cheer as the Westchester Mall, along with a variety of other Simon shopping malls are ditching the tradition of jingle bells, elves, and Christmas magic due to alleged customer complaints. Who are these customers, who are offended by a Christmas display? Allegedly it is these customers that are forcing the mall officials to beome friendlier to the general public.
News Flash those patrons who are flooding your malls, waiting on horrendous lines to see Santa, are the same patrons that allow you the opportunity to reach your daily goals, and give you a bonus. Those patrons are making purchases for Christmas morning, and we are now complaining!
Your Ice Cold Glacier Experience is offending me as well as my family, and there isn’t a parka that could keep us warm enough to step a foot into one of your malls. Clearly we are not alone as the petition started days ago are just about 1000 short of 25,000 signatures! Interested in signing the petition click here.
Looking for an alternative to Simon Malls? Try shopping from your cozy home in your pj’s surrounded by a cheery decor of Gingerbread houses, Christmas trees, and garland while sipping on some eggnog, via Amazon, and you might as well get Prime and enjoy free shipping!
It’s been a great run Simon,
but its not me, its definitely you…

Simon malls has made a huge mistake with these displays. You can’t take the Christmas out of a Christmas display. And adding trees after making this horrendous display is too little too late. My kids will be taking photos with Santa elsewhere. Thanks & Great story Geanine!

Saddened, disappointed, and offended are only a few words to describe my feelings towards this offensive gesture towards a holiday tradition that has rendered generations of families many joyous moments. Simons mall is a joke, for lack of a better word. Those who are offended should then steer clear of the malls during our very short holiday season and might want to look in the mirror when pointing their fingers at those who enjoy the celebrations because you my dear offended ones and Simon Malls are discriminating against us holiday goers….. for that I say SHAME ON YOU!
