Arriving at Mad Libs Live! the new off Broadway show playing at the New World Stages, my kids were clueless with what to expect. They had no idea of the interactive family musical they were about to engage in, which is inspired by the fill in the blanks game we spent countless hours playing, when we were younger.
As we took our seat we were handed papers to fill in the blanks with verbs, nouns, adverbs, and adjectives to help out the cast. It was perfect for our third grader who is learning the importance of each, to form a complete sentence. Once we completed the forms with words only my children would use, like sassy, poopy, goofy, farthead, etc we handed our papers into the ushers who transferred each paper into labeled buckets which would soon be used to fill in the blanks by the cast. The funniest part of the night for my kids was hearing the cast use their words!
As four teenagers each with a different motive, come together to form a singing group to try and win the title, in a local talent search for the next pop band they realize their original songs aren’t complete. Oh No! What to do? They are handed the buckets filled with the verbs, nouns, adverbs, and adjectives contribute by the audience, and selected at random by the actors, ensuring a hilarious and different show every single time!
