Do you remember date night? Whether you were celebrating an anniversary or simply spicing up a thank you God free weekend, fun quality time with your significant other hitting the club, fist pumping the night away, or catching the latest flick was just what you needed.
Now that we have completed high school, and securely settled into married life, whether its five weeks, five years, or even five decades, our main priorities have shifted. However date night is a ritual we all need to revive, albeit 2 kids, and 9 years of marriage behind us reality is we are lucky if we get a waking moment alone together! A sitter is a non negotiable, unless its family or extremely close friend they need not apply. With limited options date night has sadly become a luxury we rarely indulge in.
Although the intimate romantic dinner dates, a screening of the most current release, or a day of adventure is a distant memory, my husband and I have managed to find another way to enjoy a date night in the comfort of our own home.
With the kids asleep by 8, we ditched the smartphones, tablets, etc, gathered snacks, and a bottle of wine and cuddled up on the sofa. As we pushed the on demand button on our Verizon Fios remote we were hit with questions. Do we watch a chick flick? Love story? Horror Flick? And there it was… Before our eyes, the movie that unintentionally brought us both back to our youth. Creed.
Both my husband and I grew up on Rocky movies, therefore Creed obviously was the perfect movie choice for us on this stay at home date night.
The thought of Rocky took us back to our teenage years. As we laughed and reminisced on days of our youth, and the embarrassing choices we made, all before we ultimately rented Creed. I then realized we couldn’t possibly have laughed this loud, and had this much fun in an actual theater. Considering we nearly woke the kids, we would have for sure been kicked out!
When was your last date night with your spouse? or significant other?
Have you tried to put the kids to sleep early and catch a flick at home? What did you watch?

That’s usually our kind of date night too. We don’t have family to watch our kids, so it’s just us and we gotta wait til the kiddos are in bed to enjoy some grown up time.
