The thought of traveling can usually be a little overwhelming. The combination of everyone’s check list, waking up at the crack of down to catch the first flight out to ensure the kids enjoy the full day, we all do it. However the thought of these tactics is enough to give me a headache.
Then I was invited to indulge in the ultimate Moms Escape. Add in a sweet, yet crazy adventurous friend, Stephanie and all headaches were replaced with visions of watching the waves hit the beach while laying poolside, or adventuring through a storm to snorkel. More on that later.
We arrived well after 8 pm at Dreams, Cancun, Mexico and despite it being early evening we were shocked to see we were greeted with a full very attentive staff. Within moments of our arrival we were ushered into the VIP concierge for a champagne welcome, an introduction of amenities, a map of the property, and check in. Shortly after we were escorted to our rooms, and within minutes (we are moms), we were ready for a late night bite.
It was getting late, and exhaustion was beginning to set in, so Stephanie and I decided on Oceana the closest of 5 restaurants to our room. Despite exhaustion lurking it’s ugly face, we were quickly revived by sounds of the DJ nearby entertaining not only the wedding but the others along the beach. I was happy to see just as I was ready to crawl into bed, the music had already quieted down like a faint memory.

Waking up to the sounds of the ocean waves and the view of the sunset was a breathtaking . Even more so when I knew the only one I had to care for this am and the rest of the day was myself. With that in mind, I quickly ordered room service and set myself up on the balcony. I may be on a MOMS escape, however, sadly emails/work couldn’t just be ignored.

Our day began with catching a few rays poolside. Of course we are adventurous and don’t sit poolside for long, and we were happy to stumble upon the swing up bar on the beach. Naturally one drink was in order we couldn’t swing empty handed.
Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa features 486 guestrooms and suites, each spacious and elegantly furnished. Feel free to catch some rays poolside as we did, or venture out onto their private stretch of beach. Other amenities include sport fishing or deep sea diving adventure, movies under the stars, and a drop off kids club, Explorer’s Club – a fully supervised children’s program with lots of fun activities. The Explorer’s Club, would leave me childless for hours on end.
Countless restaurants, no reservations necessary, and cashless dining. Honestly, the stress free dining options alone have me already planning my family vacation.

Afternoon activities on a Friday include making Paella with the Chef in the garden while sipping on Sangria. With about ten other guests, it was great to meet others from around the country who have been vacationing at various Dreams properties for years.
After a day of leisure just what a mom needs is a evening at the spa right? Oh well we certainly took one for the team, and indulged! Having never had the fish pedicure, we knew we had to give it a try. Initially we squealed like little girls, then it was actually relaxing. Ok we continued to squeal like little girls, so much fun! Having soaked up a little too many rays, I welcomed a seaweed wrap, and massage along with the cool braid that donned my head like a crown, which was totally unexpected.
