As part of a road trip with friends we visited the National Parks in Pennsylvania. First on our todo list was to purchase the Park rangers book, initially I thought to myself do we really need this? Then, the kids really enjoyed visiting the various points of interest and collecting their stamps. The iPads were stashed away and I as well enjoyed the adventure because they were actually learning history of the points of interest. Of course, the finale when all 5 kids became Junior Rangers was the best part for them.
My kids still speak fondly of that road trip, and I am sad we haven’t revisited additional National Parks since. Which is why we were so happy the National Park Service celebrated their 100th birthday, right here at the Brooklyn Bridge Pier. With it being nearly 20 minutes away we were eager to join in on the festivities.
The Day began with a ice cream social at Brooklyn Ice Cream factory, followed by trivia, sand art, and celebration featured music by Ramblin’ Dan, and Questlove.
We encourage you to visit the National Park Service website to find a listing of great Free local events to get your family more involved, discover America’s story and ultimately Find Your Park.
