New York’s iconic American Girl store on Fifth Ave has made the move to 75 Rockefeller Plaza. The brand new retail space is now just two levels, which is a relief to all parents! No worries they certainly didn’t downsize. The new store spans 40,000 square feet over the two levels and offers amazing new features.
We were invited for a press preview, and spent the day previewing, shopping, and indulging in festivities for the grand opening benefit. Along with one of her closest friends Gia was eager to spend the day at American Girl where important values like compassion, tolerance, and love are championed and encouraged. Take a look below at a few of our favorite new features as well as a few moments we captured throughout the day.
Known for its doll salons, American Girl has now expanded it’s salon to allow the girls to join in on the fun with services made just for them. If you’re a mom like me who loves to hold an over-the-top birthday party, the new American Girl Cafe features customized parties in private party rooms. With cool themed packages, you can now include personalized messaging on their big screens via media and projection.
The new create your own design is set in the middle of the first floor, and the kids have the ability to create one-of-a-kind designs for their dolls in a fun and collaborative atmosphere. Each station is equipped with a touch screen computer screen to create their own American Girl dolls, as well as fashion designs.
The new media studio offers kids an area for them to enjoy a wide range of instructional classes, health and wellness activities and view American Girl films.
The grand opening benefit that evening included an author signing, entertainment, shopping, and a silent auction supporting The New York Public Library. The entertainment portion for Gia consisted of cookie decorating and chasing Daphne Oz tog et a better view of her shoes. If you know Gia personally you know all to well her passion for fashion and her love of cookies.
