We were invited by Netflix to enjoy a screening of The Adam Project, along with a talkback from the cast. If you are unfamiliar with the title, The Adam Project is an upcoming sci-fi adventure film slated for release on March 11th on Netflix. The movie follows a time traveler named Adam who travels back in time to team up with his 11-year-old self to save the planet by stopping time travel from being invented.
In the future time travel has ruined everything. The world is falling apart, and it’s up to Adam and his younger self to stop it from ever being invented – by their father. Oh, yeah. Adam’s father invented time travel.
An Unintentional Team Up
Of course, like many films of this kind, the team-up was never supposed to happen. Adam was aiming for 2018, the year when his father invented time travel, but he instead accidentally ends up in 2022.
As you might have guessed, this is where Adam teams up with himself. After an initial meeting filled with questions and Ryan Reynold’s signature delivery, the duo of Adam and Adam must stop time travel from ever occurring.
What The Adam Project Is
The Adam Project is most definitely a popcorn movie filled with action, adventure, Ryan Reynold’s signature delivery of snark and heart in equal measure, and a deeply talented cast. It’s also full of heart, all of which plays very well to Reynolds’ strengths.
What The Adam Project Isn’t
If the latest Spider-Man movie has left you with a multiverse on the brain, get that thought out of your head. Although this movie is about time travel, it’s not the convoluted time travel that we’ve seen in End Game or No Way Home. This is the classic linear time travel trope that we all know from as far back as Back to the Future, and that’s okay. Because as we’ve seen in the trailers, it works.
The Cast
If the story sounds good, the casting sounds great. As you might expect with a big-budget Netflix feature starring Reynolds, this is a strong cast, indeed. In addition to Reynolds, the movie boasts such names as Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Zoe Saldana, along with Catherine Keener, Lucie Guest, and fresh face, Braxton Bjerken, as a young Adam.
The Adam Project is Traveling to Your TV Soon
The Adam Project will release on March 11th on Netflix. With a talented cast, the infectious charisma of Ryan Reynolds, and a story that is as much about family as it is about sci-fi, time-traveling adventure, The Adam Project is a film that the entire family will enjoy – we definitely did, along with a big bowl of popcorn, of course.
